A coliseum-like atmosphere will fill Mosman Park Bowling Club when Australia goes into battle with three of its fiercest rivals at the up-coming Perth International.

The star-studded seven day event, which will see Australia in action for the first time since the 2008 World Championship, will pit 16 of the planet’s finest players against each other in the pursuit of international glory, with England, Malaysia and Scotland confirmed starters.

While the Australians will fancy their chances on home soil, their opponents have named three blistering outfits, headlined by England’s big four consisting of world number seven Mark Walton, dual Commonwealth Games representative Mervyn King, whiz kid Natalie Melmore and World Championship gold medallist Amy Monkhouse.

The Scottish contigent will be spearheaded by world number nine Neil Spiers and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Margaret Letham, while Malaysia has included up-and-coming Asian under-25 champion Hashima Khairudzi.

Australia, however, has unveiled a blue-chip line-up including teenage superstar Kelsey Cottrell, as well as the nation’s top-ranked female bowler, Karen Murphy, Helensvale ace Robbie Thompson and reigning World Champion of Champions, Leif Selby.

With the Mosman Park Bowling Club providing a breathtaking backdrop, the Perth International is a world class event that should not be missed!

The format for the Perth International involves two men and two women from each nation and features the following:

• Singles (men and women)
• Pairs (men and women)
• Pairs (mixed)
• Triples (mixed)

The Perth International offers participating countries an opportunity to play in an internationally recognised format against strong international competition on fast Australian greens.

Perth also offers similar climatic conditions to Adelaide the host venue for the 2012 World Championships.

With the qualifiers for the 2012 World Championships to take place during the middle of 2009 this event provides countries participating and ideal opportunity to experience the unique Australian conditions. More information: www.bowls-aust.com.au
