Old German Consulate
Perth, Fremantle Attractions
One of the most strikingly unique buildings in Fremantle, the Old German Consulate was built for local developer William deLacey Bacon by architect E.H.Dean. It was first occupied by wine and spirit merchants L. Rattazzi & Co. Laurman Rattazi was the Imperial German Consul and was held as an enemy alien after it was rumoured to have been using the upper floors to spy on ships coming in and out of the Fremantle Harbour.
