P&O Building
Fremantle, Perth Australia
The P&O Building was built for the Australasian Shipping Company in 1903 to help accommodate their rapid growth during the West Australian gold boom. During the boom between 1890 and 1910 Fremantle was established as a major shipping port which large numbers of people arriving to Fremantle and then making their way to the gold fields to try their luck at prospecting. This also resulted in a a large quantity of freight being moved through Fremantle and expanding the port industry. The P&O Company took over the Australasian Shipping Company in 1914 and both company logo's feature on the facade.

Fremantle Town Hall
Frematle Attractions
The Fremantle Town Hall was opened on the 22nd June 1887 to coincide with Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee. It took two years to construct by builder E.Keane. Fremantle Town Hall was restored and re-opened in 1986 in a ceremony officiated by the honourable R.J.L. Hawke, Prime Minister of Australia.

Pietro Giacomo Porcelli

Completed in 1993 by artist Greg James the lifesize sculpture of Pietro Giacomo Porcelli is a memorial to this great Fremantle sculptor who was responsible for many significant works throughout Fremantle. Pietro Giacomo Porcelli was born in Bisceglie, Bari, Italy on January 30th 1872 and moved to Sydney with is father when he was 8 years old. After a short return to Maples in Italy to study drawing and sculpture, Porcelli returned to Australia (Fremantle) in 1898.

St John's Church Fremantle

The exisiting St Johns Church Fremantle replaced the original, and first church, built on the site in 1843 which was a stone building. The existing church was designed by architects W. Smith of Adelphi in London in 1875 and the foundation stone laid a year later in 1878 by Perth's Bishop Hale. It was built by Vincent, J.J. Harwood and Son and consectrated on 4th July 1882.
St. John's Church Fremantle is located in "The Square" at the corner of Adelaide and Queen streets. An atmosphere of Divine Presence is evident as you enter the building and take in the proportional space of grandeur and beauty.
