Initially the site housed several buildings including a family cottage, stables, warehouse, factory and office. Moores Building is constructed from local materials including such as limestone blocks, sandstone bricks and sawn shingles. The facade was constructed during the gold rush in 1899 to unite the earlier buildings into one existing street frontage. In 1900 William Moore sold the business. The building was purchased by City of Fremantle in 1986.
