Moore's BuildingFremantle Historic BuildingThe Moore's building in Fremantle dates back to 1844 when a building was erected at the rear of the lot and later, between 1868 - 1899, William Dalgety Moore operated a mixed business from the site including hardware, spirits, farming goods and mining equipment. Initially the site housed several buildings including a family cottage, stables, warehouse, factory and office. Moores Building is constructed from local materials including such as limestone blocks, sandstone bricks and sawn shingles. The facade was constructed during the gold rush in 1899 to unite the earlier buildings into one existing street frontage. In 1900 William Moore sold the business. The building was purchased by City of Fremantle in 1986.
